Pinky and the Floyd is a collaborative effort of Bozeman musicians to share and pay homage to the music of one of the most well known psychedelic rock bands in history. Bozeman’s own Salsa & Latin Jazz inspired dance band performs their own interpretations of Latin American tunes while maintaining original, authentic Afro-Cuban rhythms and blending traditional and non-traditional instrumentation. The DupliKates made their debut in Bozeman in 2004, playing a variety of public events including Bite of Bozeman and Lunch on the Lawn. In addition, the group creates custom shows for private functions, and offers background music for large or small parties. Kate Bryan, Kate Ciari and Chuck Swenson amuse themsevles (and others) with new acoustic arrangements of familiar tunes and obscure musical gems, featuring guitar, mandolin, banjo, clarinet and soaring vocal harmonies. Our inspiration springs from the old-school blues and roots music from the 1950’s. At that time blues, R&B, jazz, and early rock and roll were all rolling around in the same pot of gumbo. With our songs, vintage threads and gear, and retro-electro tones, we transport the audience back to a time to when electricity and the blues first hooked up.
