In Walks Bud is a band that started in Helena, MT. We recorded our first CD in March of 2008, however, our recording setup (at the time) was quite limited. We’ve recently finished our second album – No More Mountains and it is soon to be released. We believe the easiest way to describe our music is reggae/rock.

A hard-driving organ trio in the tradition of 60′s soul/jazz pioneers, 70′s funk/fusion groups, and modern groove bands such as soulive, and MMW.  Equally adept at traditional jazz, this trio plays a surprising array of venues, from jazz dinner clubs to hard-rock arenas.

Based out of the Bozeman Helena area. 9Z’s style has evolved into an amalgamation of funk, jam, rock, jazz, blues, electronic, and other influences.  We play original music that is composed, original music that is improvised, jazz standards, 9 & Zen-ified rock/blues/jazz/reggae/??? tunes, and much more, often pulling something out of thin air, never heard before and never to be heard again…this is the very essence of the improv side of 9Z.
